NIKAI MARINE SYSTEM OIL

MSO Series

MARINE SYSTEM OIL

Crankcase Lubrication & Component Cooling

Nikai Marine System Oil is the "blood" of the engine's lower section. Unlike cylinder oil, which is consumed during combustion, system oil is circulated in a closed loop through the crankcase to lubricate bearings and cool the pistons.

Application

Lubricates the main bearings, crosshead bearings, and camshaft. It is also used as a coolant for the piston under-crown.

Key Features

  • Excellent Demulsibility: Rapidly separates from water (which can leak from cooling jackets or purifiers), ensuring the oil film remains pure and effective.
  • System Cleanliness: High oxidation resistance prevents the formation of sludge in the crankcase and oil galleries.
  • Corrosion Protection: Protects expensive metal alloys in the bearings and crankshaft from rust during long voyages.
  • Load Carrying: Provides a robust film to protect the heavily loaded crosshead and crankpin bearings.

NIKAI MARINE CYLINDER OIL

MCO Series

Marine Cylinder Oil

Total Acid Neutralization & Piston Ring Protection

Nikai Marine Cylinder Oil is a high-viscosity, high-alkalinity lubricant specifically designed for the upper cylinder lubrication of slow-speed, two-stroke crosshead engines. Because these engines often burn heavy fuel oil (HFO) with high sulfur content, this oil is the primary defense against corrosive wear.

Application

Injected directly into the cylinder liner via lubricators to lubricate the piston rings and liner walls.

The BN Factor

Available in various Base Numbers (BN 40, 70, 100). The BN must be matched to the sulfur content of the fuel being burned to effectively neutralize sulfuric acid.

Key Features

  • High Thermal Stability: Resists the extreme temperatures of the combustion chamber without forming heavy carbon deposits.
  • Strong Detergency: Keeps piston rings free in their grooves, maintaining engine compression and efficiency.
  • Adhesion: Formulated to "stick" to vertical liner surfaces even under high-pressure combustion.

NIKAI MARINE GEAR OIL

MGO Series

MARINE GEAR OIL

Extreme Pressure Protection for Propulsion and Deck Machinery

Nikai Marine Gear Oils are high-performance, heavy-duty lubricants engineered to withstand the unique mechanical and environmental stresses of the maritime industry. From high-torque propulsion reduction gears to exposed deck winches, these oils provide a robust chemical film that prevents metal-on-metal contact, even under shock-loading and salt-spray conditions.

Application & Critical Systems

  • Main Reduction Gears: Transmits massive power from the engine to the propeller shaft. Requires high-film strength to protect precision-ground gear teeth.
  • Thrusters & Azipods: Specialized lubrication for underwater propulsion units that require excellent shear stability and water resistance.
  • Deck Winches & Windlasses: Protects gears from the corrosive effects of salt air and heavy loads during mooring or anchoring.
  • Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP): Acts as both a lubricant and a hydraulic medium for pitch-changing mechanisms.

Key Performance Features

  • Extreme Pressure (EP) Fortification: Formulated with sulfur-phosphorus additives that react under high load to form a protective layer, preventing scuffing, pitting, and "micro-pitting" of gear surfaces.
  • Superior Demulsibility: Water ingress is a constant risk in marine gearboxes. Nikai quickly sheds water, allowing it to be drained or centrifuged before it can cause rust or oil film failure.
  • High Thermal & Oxidation Stability: Resists thickening and sludge formation even during long-duration voyages at high operating temperatures.
  • Corrosion Inhibition: Fortified with specialized marine-grade inhibitors to protect steel and yellow metals from the corrosive effects of seawater and humidity.
  • Foam Resistance: Ensures a consistent oil film is maintained even in high-speed splash-lubricated gearboxes, preventing air entrainment that leads to overheating.

NIKAI MARINE TURBINE OIL

MTO Series

MARINE TURBINE OIL

Superior Oxidation Stability for Critical Propulsion & Power Generation

Nikai Marine Turbine Oil is a premium-quality lubricant specifically engineered for the high-speed, high-temperature environments of marine steam and gas turbines. Formulated from highly refined hydro-processed base oils and a specialized ashless additive package, this oil provides the exceptional thermal stability and rapid air release required for the reliable operation of main propulsion turbines and auxiliary turbo-generators.

Application & Critical Systems

  • Main Propulsion Turbines: Provides the high-film strength required for high-speed reduction gears and turbine bearings.
  • Turbo-Generators: Ensures consistent power generation by protecting the precision bearings of auxiliary power units.
  • Turbochargers: Engineered to withstand the extreme exhaust temperatures of large marine diesel engine turbochargers without carbonizing.
  • Centrifugal Compressors & Pumps: Ideal for high-speed rotating equipment requiring long-life, non-detergent lubrication.

Key Performance Features

  • Exceptional Oxidation Stability: Formulated to resist the "cooking" effect of high-heat turbine bearings. This prevents the formation of sludge and varnish that can clog oil lines and cause catastrophic bearing failure.
  • Rapid Water Separation: Steam and condensation are constant threats. Nikai quickly sheds water, allowing it to be centrifuged or drained, ensuring the oil film remains pure.
  • Anti-Foam & Rapid Air Release: High-speed rotation can trap air in the oil. Nikai releases entrained air almost instantly to maintain a solid, incompressible fluid film.
  • Corrosion & Rust Inhibition: Fortified with specialized inhibitors to protect polished steel bearings and internal gearbox surfaces from the corrosive effects of salt air and moisture.
  • Long Service Life: Designed for "fill-for-life" or extremely extended drain intervals, reducing the frequency of expensive oil changes and minimizing shipboard waste.

NIKAI HYDRO-M

MH Series

Marine Hydraulic Oil

High-Stability Performance for Harsh Maritime Environments

Nikai Marine Hydraulic Oils are premium-grade lubricants specifically engineered to handle the rigorous demands of shipboard hydraulic systems. Whether powering deck machinery in freezing Arctic waters or steering gear in tropical heat, these oils provide the high-viscosity index and corrosion protection required for reliable operation at sea.

Application & Deck Machinery

  • Deck Cranes & Winches: Provides the precise control and load-carrying capacity needed for heavy lifting and mooring operations.
  • Steering Gear: Ensures rapid response and consistent pressure for critical navigation systems.
  • Hatch Covers & Ramps: Maintains smooth operation of heavy hydraulic cylinders, even after long periods of inactivity.
  • Stabilizers & Bow Thrusters: Engineered to resist the shearing forces found in high-speed marine propulsion and stabilization units.

Key Performance Features

  • High Viscosity Index (HVI): Formulated to remain stable across a wide temperature range. This prevents the oil from becoming too thick in cold climates or too thin in hot climates.
  • Superior Water Separation: Saltwater contamination is a constant threat. Nikai Marine Hydraulic Oil quickly separates from water, allowing it to be drained from the reservoir.
  • Advanced Anti-Wear Chemistry: Contains specialized zinc-based additives that form a protective microscopic layer on pump vanes, gears, and pistons.
  • Corrosion & Rust Inhibition: Specifically fortified to protect internal metal surfaces against the corrosive effects of salt air and moisture.
  • Seal Compatibility: Designed to be neutral to common marine seal materials (Nitrile, Viton, etc.), preventing leaks and maintaining system pressure.
